My weeklong layout...

A week ago, yes, a whole week.... I started this layout. No sketches or creative ideas other than playing around, it evolved quite a bit from where I first started with it. I even asked for help from the gals in Scrapping with Friends on Cafemom for suggestions... This was the first time I tried using the edge distresser that my best buddy Katherine gave me- it looks like a little pink Pac-man (that makes me old, because that was a very eighties reference there.. ). It was so much fun using the edge distresser, I probably went a bit overboard... but it does help a layout with a boy in it not look too girly. So here it is, finally, my son being a goofball (this is not a rare occurrence). When he asks me to spike his hair, he says "like a shark"- meaning: a dorsal fin.. My husband gets really annoyed when I allow him to go to school like this, but I think there's no harm in it, and he's a great kid, so it's not like he's "punking out" with attitude. The title of the layout was actually part of a piece of scrapbooking paper that said that, originally part of the layout that got scrapped (not literally :) ) but I loved the saying, so I used chipboard instead. I kind of wonder if it looks a bit too busy, but I'm as done as I'm going to be with this layout. I haven't scrapped a layout in months, so there was a lot of rust being shaken off. I just couldn't resist using these pictures, they really motivated me to scrap them :) I also made a tag to journal on that kind of blends in but allows me to talk more about what was behind the pictures.

Magnetic Memo Boards

I made these magnetic memo boards on a whim- the coffee one was a thank you gift for a friend of mine, and the aqua blue colored one is for our MOPS auction. I think that the more I make, the more I add to them, they come together really fast- gotta love that! On the blue board, I customized buttons with coordinating paper and clear buttons- using Aleen's Paper Glaze to glue the paper to the back of the buttons, then threaded embroidery floss through and tied- thanks to my buddy Katherine who gave me the nerve to try doing that, I really like how it looks... :)

Bonus layout for last night..

This layout was a "bonus" layout... I hadn't planned on doing another one, but my papers and pictures were still out, so I thought I'd do this basic 8x8 inch layout. I usually scrap 12x12's, but I have an 8" album for my daughter, so I figured it could go in there. And while doing so, maybe I could shake a little bit more rust off... I used a layout from http://www.littlebookofsketches.blogspot.com/ , this was also a "Featured Favorite" sketch I posted in Scrapping with Friends on Cafemom, back in December. I finally got to it now. It's a great picture of my best buddy and my daughter, about 2 years ago now, but it worked well for a one pic. layout. I used the George cartridge on the Cricut that she so generously gave me, and Stickled a bit here and there. I made a super easy photo corner with coordinating paper, and let me just say that I love the embroidery (?) type needles that have a really big eye on them, because it allowed me to thread the ribbon through the big button- I'm a nerd and that really excited me!
